It’s been quite a year at Barone Pizzini, where the winery racked up an impressive — if we do say so ourselves — array of accolades.
One highlight was the Gambero Rosso Tre Bicchieri for the Franciacorta Brut Nature 2009.
“Barone Pizzini,” wrote the editors, “represents a coming together of research, innovation, and a belief in the appellation, not to mention a winning model that champions alternative, clean, sustainable, and pragmatic agriculture.”
But perhaps the most rewarding of all the accolades in 2014 was a profile of the winery in the Corriere della Sera, one of Italy’s leading national dailies, “The Grapes that Make Franciacorta Greener.”
It didn’t hurt that Robin Kelley O’Connor, a buyer at the famous shop Italian Wine Merchants in New York, called one of our wines “the top of its class.”
