Barone Pizzini awarded Gambero Rosso “Sustainable Viticulture” Prize 2015

The “Sustainable Viticulture Prize” is an award that the Gambero Rosso is “particularly emotional” about,” explain the editors in the presentation of this year’s prize. They are “devoted with front-of-the-class commitment” to the cause, they write.

“All you need to do is visit the new and very modern winery, which was designed using bio-architecture, and tour the organically and biodynamically farmed vineyards to understand how much the winery deserves this prize.”

In 2001, Barone Pizzini’s Franciacorta vineyard obtained organic certification. In 2009, its property in Castelli di Jesi, Pievalta, obtained biodynamic certification.

In each appellation, it was the first winery to obtain certification in the respective categories.

Barone Pizzini also won the Gambero Rosso’s coveted Three Glass (Tre Bicchieri) award this year for its Franciacorta Brut Nature.

The rating and prize will be published officially in the 2015 Gambero Rosso Guide to the Wines of Italy.
