“It was my honor to visit this legendary restaurant,” wrote Barone Pizzini General Manager Silvano Brescianini in an email this morning.
Silvano dined there last night for the first time with Donny Sullivan of the Source Imports, Barone Pizzini and Pievalta’s California distributor.
Before working the wine industry, Silvano was a chef who worked at the highest levels of the restaurant trade in Italy and New York.

The historic role that Chez Panisse has played in reshaping the tastes of Americans was not lost on him. After all, this restaurant was one of the epicenters of the nouvelle cuisine revolution that began when it was founded by food legend Alice Waters in 1971.
The pizzetta with nettles, he wrote, was one of the most interesting things he’s eaten on his current Californian tour.
“This restaurant,” he says, “did so much to change the culinary landscape in America and the world. And it continues to define cutting-edge dining.”
We highly recommend it… Details follow…
