SlowWine reviews Pievalta Verdicchio Dominè 2008

best verdicchioThis week, Slowine (SlowFood) reviewed the Pievalta 2008 Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Superiore Dominè. Here’s what editor Francesco Quercetti had to say about the wine (translation by our blogmaster):

Tasted at: friends’ home in Gualdo (Macerata)
Paired with: Spaghetti alla Carbonara

Defying its age, this Verdicchio shows truly rich character.

Opulent and inviting on the palate, it is well balanced by a delicious salty finish.

Loads of ripe fruit and anise with fresh balsamic hints on the nose.

Delightful with this real-deal Spaghetti alla Carbonara, made with eggs, guanciale, and locally sourced Pecorino (produced by the neighboring farmers).

Great work by Alessandro Fenino, who runs this lovely biodynamic estate: a well-priced wine at just a few Euros, it was the perfect accompaniment to a Sunday lunch.
